Call it a creative choice, call it consumate resourcefulness, but South London singer-songwriter Sophie Nicole Ellison thrives in isolation. A skilled multi-instrumentalist, producer and engineer, she’s entirely self-sufficient in her work as Hussy, sculpting vast sonic vistas that feel unfathomable and eerily intimate all at once.
Hussy is as pure an expression of an artist’s internal landscape as it’s possible to get. As Ellison herself puts it, “I want it to feel like you’re in my world. Growing up, music gave me a view into another world: I want to give that experience back to listeners with my writing.”
